I’ll never forget waking to that early morning Fast & Furious raid!
– by BigAddison
The pre-dawn darkness was lit from ground to air with whirring red and blue lights. Federal black vans and vehicles scouring the streets like cucaracha’s in your kitchen catching ratas throughout the village leaving us without a Mayor, City Council, or Police Department.
They say history repeats itself, and in the history of Columbus, gun purchases gone bad have twice left a mark in the EXACT SAME PLACE!
Serendipity seems to thrive in Columbus. Did you know Columbus was actually the location of the first 9/11 type invasion? Yep, it’s where the name Francisco “Pancho” Villa became infamous. And why? because he sent his army of “villaistas” over the border in 1916 to raid, plunder, and murder Americans in pursuit of taking GUNS & AMMUNITION back into Mexico.
And, as serendipity goes, the precise spot where the raid took place is now the intersections of highways 9 & 11. (See more here)
I always say, “Columbus is still as close as your going to get to life in the Wild Wild West”. For 40 some years my family has operated a hotel in the village. And for 40 years we’ve never been bored with the goings on at the very edge of enchantment. Oh, and at present, my uncle is the Mayor. FINGERS CROSSED! 😉
This week marks nearly 15 years from the second raid as reported by in the video below.
