Exciting News from the Village of Columbus, NM!
We’re proud to share our new monument has been placed right at the U.S.–Mexico border, dedicated to the incredible cyclists of the Continental Divide Trail and the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route (GDMBR)
For years, Columbus has been a cherished waypoint for GDMBR riders. While the official southern terminus is at Antelope Wells, many cyclists conclude their epic journey here in Columbus, where they can find lodging, food, and a warm community welcome.
Fun Facts about the GDMBR:
-Spanning approximately 2,700 miles, the GDMBR is the world’s longest off-pavement cycling route.
-Cyclists face over 200,000 feet of elevation gain, traversing diverse terrains from the Canadian Rockies to the Chihuahuan Desert in New Mexico.
The GDMBR passes through remote wilderness areas, historic mountain towns, and stunning landscapes, offering an unparalleled adventure for backpackers.
